Cour de cassation hearing
Invited by Professor France DRUMMOND, the students attended a hearing before the Commercial Chamber of the Cour de cassation, France's supreme court for civil and commercial matters.
The case concerned the criteria for assessing joint control of a listed company.
During 2024, Vivendi, a media and communications group, announced a plan to split the company into several separately listed entities.
The AMF, the French financial markets authority, took the view that the conditions for control were not met, and that no mandatory takeover bid was therefore required.
The company CIAM brought an action before the Paris Court of Appeal seeking annulment of that decision.
On 28 November, the supreme court handed down its ruling, clarifying the criteria applicable to joint control.
A rewarding experience, which concluded with discussions between the students and the judges.

Bredin Prat
On Friday 7 November, students of the Master II in Business Law at Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas had the honour of being welcomed by the law firm Bredin Prat.
They were able to discover two of the firm's flagship practices — tax and corporate/M&A — presented by three partners.
The visit closed with a question-and-answer session, giving students the chance to learn more about the firm and its recruitment process.
Graduation ceremony
On Monday 27 October, the graduation ceremony for the 2024-2025 class of the Master 2 in Business Law was held at the Centre Panthéon.
Following an opening address by Professor Daniel COHEN, director of the programme, each student received their diploma alongside the new presidents of the association's board.
The ceremony continued with a convivial gathering of graduates, their families and the faculty.
White and Case
On Tuesday 7 October, students of the Master II in Business Law at Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas had the honour of being welcomed by the law firm White & Case Paris.
They discovered the firm's various practices: private equity, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, commercial litigation and arbitration.
The visit ended with a discussion with the firm's lawyers, followed by a friendly cocktail reception.
